New 912 / 914 / 582 Service Instruction:

Running modifications of the Bing constant depression carburetor for ROTAX® Engine Type 912 and 914 (Series) and 582 UL mod. 99 / mod. 17 (Series) [double-float slide-type carburetor]

In the course of continued development and our commitment to product improvement, changes to several carburetor parts have been introduced.

What's this about?

Rotax has released a new Service Instruction (SI) document applicable to certain 912, 914 (series) and 582 (Model 99 and Model 17) aircraft engines. This particular SI document recaps the ongoing improvements to the Bing constant depression carburetor as used on the 912 & 914 (series) engines, and the slide type carb as used on the 582UL engines. This document has no specific compliance instructions; it is FOR INFORMATION ONLY.

How does this affect me?

If your aircraft is equipped with a 912, 914, or 582 engine, you (or your maintenance personnel) should be aware that certain new and improved parts may now be substituted for the original parts used in your carburetors. Depending on the serial number range of your engine, it may already be equipped with the latest parts.

What do I do about it?

The various modifications covered in this SI document need to be considered during the next repair work / major overhaul. If your aircraft has parts covered by this SI then you or your maintenance personnel should carefully review the document before installation or maintenance.
